I've said it before, if the liberals would just sit back and read what they are saying and look at what they are doing, anybody with a shred of intelligence and morale decency would notice how detrimental it is to our country and way of life.

Until then, I have tacked the good ship USS Conserative around and have gained the weather advantage, opened all gun ports, primed cannons and locked fwd, awaiting signal to give a broadside to the socialists agenda now taking shape in America. ;-)J. That’s why EVERY other civilized nation makes sure all its citizens have health coverage, be it government sponsored (e.g. England) or via not-for-profit private businesses (e.g., Japan), for half the money we spend. And that’s why the US health care system is no longer the best in the world, despite what all of us like to think. We rank 53rd worldwide in infant mortality, behind Cuba, Slovenia and Korea; and now rank 45th in life expectancy, behind all of Europe and most of Asia. Worst of all, this is the only country where one can go bankrupt because of medical expenses. Just think about what position you’d be in if your adult son, just out of college, no job yet but no longer under your insurance, gets diagnosed with leukemia or falls off a ladder. There goes your retirement savings, plus likely your house. I see this every day as a nurse, and have for my 25 years in the hospital. People really do have strokes because they couldn’t afford their blood pressure medicine (pill or food- you choose!), and its heartbreaking to see. Not to mention that companies having to cover employee health costs puts them in an uncompetitive position, and the lack of affordable individual coverage inhibits many would-be entrepreneurs from starting new businesses which in turn would create new jobs. The government can stay out of most of my business, but we’ve got to find a way to get people quality health care, and stop putting that money into the pockets of the for-profit hospital and insurance companies and their greedy CEOs!

Sue, RN from IndianaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-921323834562941074.post-15533779084521411442009-04-17T16:31:00.000-05:002009-04-17T16:31:00.000-05:00Great write! And we have those who still believe in the Consitution. Our Founding Fathers belonged to the latter. Seldom do I comment more than once on a post. . .and even less do I respond to political-type posts. . . but I must say, although I'm sure to be considered more liberal than most; but not in the context of government involvement, I see nothing good in the government's involvement in private citizen's and corporate affairs. I feel we all need to learn to be responsible for our own choices, no matter how dire. And when we need help to get out of the mut, it should come from those who really care, not the government. Besides, paying $6.00 for a pack of cigs is beginning to put a real crunch in my sin budget these days :) .

PLL, C.cordiebhttp://cordieb.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-921323834562941074.post-58073877779682044232009-04-09T13:03:00.000-05:002009-04-09T13:03:00.000-05:00Cordie, as always you are a thinker and I apprecia...Cordie, as always you are a thinker and I appreciate that. I am convinced our views are only a reflection of our experiences. Liberal and conservative are only convenient slots to place us. As you suggest, we cannot separate ourselves from experience. To do so would void all that we are and are not. We only gather more data by experiencing new things.
Yet even without labels there is still a great chasm of difference on substantive issues and core beliefs, and middle-ground seems difficult to come by. I still firmly believe allowing the government further involvement in our lives is in inviting a painful experience. Kind of like asking the devil into your living room….can’t see anything good coming of it.Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13986014894382899336noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-921323834562941074.post-35116341087549309342009-04-09T11:14:00.000-05:002009-04-09T11:14:00.000-05:00You know those tagged liberalist and those tagged ...You know those tagged liberalist and those tagged conservatists will never agree on everything. . . just as most individuals never agree on everything anyway. I suppose a lot of our views are based on our experiences and what we've been fed. If we for once could imagine our slate wiped clean, free of past experiences which have already been ingrained, unfortunately, into our beings...perhaps we could really come up with sollutions that work. The dogma of the liberalist and the conservative only stunts real solutions or growth. . . Someone has to be able to think beyond what's already been thought for real break throughs to emerge. In the end, it won't really mean a hill of beans...if we continue on the same paths of dogmatism and idealism. But most of us won't realize it until it's too late.

Peace, Light and Love. . .
